Social Realism- A style used to show what life was actually like at that period. Postmodernism- Ideologized view on life to show a depiction of what the director wants you to see. Intertextuality- Creating a media text that has references to another text. Narrative-  How a media text is organised to create a story. Diegesis- A narrator describes what is happening in the text. Ideology- Ideas the producers have they want to portray through there text. Oppositional reading- If the text is viewed from a different view than the producer intended it is an oppositional reading.

This song was released on  11 February 1991, and the music video shows the singer, Shara Nelson, walking through the streets of Los Angeles ,in a  continuous one shot, ignoring the environment around her. There are many characters in the background such as a paraplegic man, two people making out, people throwing vegetables, gangs etc and therefore this represents the area she is walking through, Los Angeles, as not a good area where people are struggling. As previously mentioned, the street she is walking through is very unique with lots of things happening in the background of the video and the lyrics often refer to how she is hurting over a significant other ,'really hurt me baby', and the hurt is that bad that she is just ignor...

The task we were given was to create a piece of video using adobe premier pro, with a set of videos and a set song. The videos we were given were of a water sport called fly boarding and the song was 'oops upside your head' by the Gap Band. To start I opened all the videos and played each one to decide what order I wanted them in, I knew that I wanted my opening shot to be an establishing shot so it showed the audience the concept and environment of the video but before I did this I synced the video to the audio so the video appeared when the fist beat of the audio started, this gave it a well thought out introduction for the audience. I wanted a title in my video as well so it made it clear what the video was about, I thought if the title just jump cutted in and out it would look blocky and unpolished.

 Using Media Language, Explain how representations have been constructed in the music video 'ill manors Plan B. The first shot in 'ill manors' is an establishing shot of a council estate of London, it shows a rough looking area to set context for the song, this is repeated throughout the protest song. To show this song as a social commentary Plan B brings up many social issues that people are facing at this time. This constructs the basis for the music video. He refers to the government as eco-friendly by preserving their 'natural habitat'  this represents the view on the government by the youth how the government don't care about improving these areas and then Plan B attacks the fact they built an olympic village next to these estates, which would of cost millions. Basic Camera Shots : Extra long shot/ Established shot- Sets the scene, so the audience can see where the set is to get a better understanding of where the plot is happening. Long shot- Usually a shot of a whole person, to introduce a charecter. Mid shot- A shot of  a person waist-up, to create a more intimate sense of a character. Two shot- Two people in a frame, shows relationship between two characters. Close up- A shot including only the face(sometimes shoulders up) it creates a direct sense of feeling between the character and audience, explaining the characters emotions. Point of View- A shot showing the view of a person, can make audience more immersed and can make audience related to charecter. Extreme close up- A shot of a part of a persons face, creates suspense and usually creates an intense moment as all you can see is a characters reaction to something, not the actual event that is taking place. Music Videos I have loved music videos since I started using YouTube , it was a go to if I was ever bored and my love for Hip-Hop started from this. I remember watching artists such as Snoop Dogg, 50 cent, all these old school 90's rappers knowing this is my style of music. Then I started looking more into UK rap and watched Krept and Konan, ZieZie, these contemporary rappers started to influence my style of fashion and even language. I loved these edgy rap music videos which didn't just emphasis there luxury life after becoming successful but focusing. on the reality of how the area they grew up in really was, not painting a pretty picture but showing that you can make it even when it feels like you are trapped in a poor life. Why study the media? The Media is such a key component of society today and has been for a long time. It has affected how the modern world is today and will keep shaping the future for the generations after us. Television, the internet, films, radio, newspapers are all types of media, it's everywhere why would I not want to study such a contemporary subject that surrounds us day in day out and understand it to a greater depth. www.dictionary.com defines media as ‘the means of communication that reach or influence people’ to me this suggests that media has been around since the Tang Dynasty in China where they used wooden blocks coated in ink to create books, such as the diamond sutra made in 868 A.D.
